Tamaki Heritage Experiences presents The Chronicles of Uitara, a powerful story of the Maori culture and of New Zealand, told across many generations of a single family – the warrior line of Uitara. As well as being a series of published books, one of the three stories in the trilogy has been created as amazing live encounters for you to experience. 'Lost in Our Own Land' in Christchurch.

Throughout the story, you will experience new landscapes, new characters, new villains and heroes. Courage and determination, love, loss and family – these are the backbone to The Chronicles of Uitara.

You’ll come face to face with fearsome rebel warriors Te Ao Huri and Uitara, and you’ll witness their invasion of a peaceful village, that of the deeply-traditional people of Matuku Moana . The village conquered, you’ll move through time to experience the significant impact of the new European population and it’s effect on Uitara.

Two traditional Maori villages, a live battle, working trams, an old steam train and historic buildings are just part of the experience across 25 acres of open-air theatre! This New Zealand cultural experience is a must see during any visit to Christchurch.
